Stainless Steel Pan Care Guide

Everything you need to know about caring for your SEIDO stainless steel frying pans.

Before First Use

Wash your pan with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. This removes any manufacturing residues and prepares the cooking surface. No seasoning is required — your pan is ready to use immediately.

Daily Care

Allow the pan to cool before washing — sudden temperature changes can cause warping. Use warm water and a soft sponge with mild dish soap. While our pans are dishwasher safe, hand washing extends the life of the finish and keeps your pan looking its best.

Deep Cleaning

For stuck-on food, fill the pan with warm water and a drop of dish soap, then let it soak for 15-30 minutes. For stubborn residue, make a paste with bicarbonate of soda and water, apply to the affected area, and gently scrub with a non-abrasive sponge.

Removing Discolouration

Rainbow discolouration is normal and doesn't affect performance. To remove it, add a splash of white vinegar to the pan and wipe with a soft cloth. For water spots or calcium deposits, use a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar.

Storage

Stack pans with a soft cloth or pan protector between each piece to prevent scratches. If space allows, hang your pans or store them individually. Keep in a dry location to prevent water spots.

Cooking Tips

Preheat the pan over medium heat before adding oil — this helps prevent sticking. Use oil with a high smoke point for high-heat cooking. Allow proteins to naturally release before flipping — they'll let go when ready.

Dos and Don'ts

Do

  • Preheat the pan before adding oil
  • Use medium heat for most cooking
  • Allow food to release naturally before flipping
  • Clean while still warm (not hot) for easier cleaning
  • Use wooden or silicone utensils to preserve the surface

Don't

  • Don't use cooking sprays — they can leave a residue
  • Don't use steel wool or abrasive cleaners
  • Don't cut food directly in the pan
  • Don't move the pan from extreme heat to cold water
  • Don't store food in the pan for extended periods
